Small batch. Proper label.

A handful of recipes in small batches, but a filled chocolate has the same compound-ingredient and allergen duties as a factory line, often sold from a stall or by post. A ganache needs a Use by. Distance selling needs the ingredients list before the customer buys, and again when the box arrives.

What the law asks of a chocolatier

And how ProvenBatch helps you meet each one.

A filled chocolate needs the full ingredients list, allergens emphasised.

On every plan

The label is built from the batch: cocoa mass, cream, inclusions and the emulsifier in the couverture, with sub-ingredients in brackets.

Distance selling needs the same list before the customer buys.

On every plan

The derived label is the copy you send with the listing and again with the box.

A batch code on the box traces to the ganache you made.

On every plan

Each batch keeps the date, the packs and the printed label, so a code on a box is a real record.

A selection box is one product made of your other products.

On every plan

Build the box from the chocolates you already label; the box label gathers their ingredients and allergens.

The regulator's own guidance: GOV.UK: introduction to allergen labelling for PPDS food.

Questions

Does a posted box need a label on the pack?

Yes, and the ingredients list also has to reach the customer before they buy. Use the same derived label for the listing and for the box.

Can I change my business type later?

Yes. Settings holds the type, and you can change it. The tools you already use stay visible; anything newly relevant is offered, and you choose what to switch on.

Does ProvenBatch make my labels legally compliant?

No software can promise that, and you should be wary of any that does. Legal responsibility for a food label always rests with the food business operator: you. What ProvenBatch does is make it much harder to get wrong: labels are derived from your real data, uncertain batches are blocked rather than guessed, and everything is recorded so you can prove what you did.
