Daily lines, zero guesswork

Sandwiches and salads made fresh each morning are the textbook PPDS case, and a high-stakes one, because the allergen exposure is daily and the customer often asks at the counter. Bought-in jars keep the maker’s label (FIC Article 8); their allergens still belong in your matrix beside your own.

What the law asks of a deli

And how ProvenBatch helps you meet each one.

Pre-cut sandwiches and salads packed that morning are PPDS, with a Use by.

On every plan

Each label is built from the batch. Uncertain ingredients stop the batch rather than print an incomplete label.

Counter food sold loose needs allergen information on request.

On every plan

The matrix on the wall, allergen cards, or a QR code for the live menu. The answer is ready before the lunch queue.

Bought-in jars keep the maker’s allergens in your matrix.

On every plan

Sold-as-is lines take their allergens from the exact pack you bought, and sit beside your own products.

Yesterday’s label reprints from the snapshot, not a fresh guess.

On every plan

Recording a batch stores exactly what was printed. Reprint prints that snapshot.

Questions

Do I relabel a bought-in jar?

No. The maker’s label stays on the jar. You record that pack as sold-as-is so its allergens sit in your matrix and in the answer you give at the counter.

Can I change my business type later?

Yes. Settings holds the type, and you can change it. The tools you already use stay visible; anything newly relevant is offered, and you choose what to switch on.

Does ProvenBatch make my labels legally compliant?

No software can promise that, and you should be wary of any that does. Legal responsibility for a food label always rests with the food business operator: you. What ProvenBatch does is make it much harder to get wrong: labels are derived from your real data, uncertain batches are blocked rather than guessed, and everything is recorded so you can prove what you did.
